Welcome fellow Graduates of 1968. Our 40th class reunion was a wonderful event. It was great to see everyone and get caught up on all the latest news. Do you have photos or memories of the reunion that you'd like to share with the rest of the class? If so, you are welcome to add your post to this blog, or share a link to any photo gallery - WalMart, Shutterfly, etc. - where others may go to view your photos. Thanks!

HISTORICAL NOTE
An insert in the 1920 GBHS yearbook notes that a contest was held to name the book. Delta Seward Craig was pictured as the winner of the contest, submitting the name "Rhorea".
It is thought that Delta coined the word Rhorea, perhaps for a chanting sound. The 1920 yearbook article concludes by saying, "But as long as the Rhorea is in existence, the origin of its name will continue to be a mystery."
Helen Opie Conner wrote the words to the GBHS Alma Mater. The school colors at that time were rose and blue. They had a cheer, "Rhorea, Rhorea, Rip Rah Rue, Great Bend High School, Rose and Blue."
Since that time, the school colors have been changed and thus the yell became, "Rah, Rah, Rip, Roar, Rack! Great Bend High School Red and Black!"
